FRäULEIN PET

Following on from last year's impressive A Small Taste EP, Northern Irish/Dutch duo Fräulein drop a 90s alt-rock infused new single 'Pet' via Submarine Cat Records. Taken from a session with producer Ali Chant (Sorry, Soccer Mommy) 'Pet' is built around a repeated muted guitar line and intricate drum patterns, the track is charged with latent energy that bubbles underneath the tense verses before being unleashed into a fuzzed out howl in the chorus; “The word ‘pet’ means a lot to me” explains Joni Samuels. “…I love it because it can be a term of endearment, but it can also be slightly patronizing. This theme fits nicely with the cyclical riff of the track, a kind of pattern that you can’t get out of”. The duo bring a huge amount of noise with just drums, guitar and Joni's powerful vocals on record and do not disappoint bring that energy and volume to their impressive live shows, check out their upcoming live dates here. -Toby Evans-Jesra
